Records were indeed broken in Atlanta this weekend. Attendance at Sunday's battle of the Uniteds reached 72,035, breaking the all-time MLS attendance record (established by Atlanta United FC themselves in 2017).
Unfortunately, the Five Stripes also broke the hold D.C. seemed to have over them last season. Looking to prove themselves after a stinging loss in Houston last week, Atlanta took it out on D.C. to the tune of 3-1.
Many are crediting Atlanta coach Tata Martino's revised game plan - D.C. certainly seemed to have trouble keeping up with ATLUTD's Miguel Almiron and Hector Villalba, who put away two goals in a two-minute span. The lone D.C. goal came from striker Darren Mattocks.
May that be our only loss to another United this season!
Despite the final scoreline, the crowd enjoyed the boisterous and colorful bash on U Street!
Thanks to the Federal Triangles Soccer Club, and to all who came out to the Watch Party at Nellie's Sports Bar.

The Kids are Alright
After a tough loss last week, the D.C. United Youth U17 side showed character to bounce back this weekend with a dominating performance. The team put up a 3-0 shutout Sunday against Continental FC.
The U15 side put on an spectacular offensive display, with an 8-0 blow out over the kids from PA. Finally, the U19s made it a clean sweep after a goal in the first five minutes led to another 3-0 win in the late game!
Here's hoping that the first team will follow their dynamic example this Saturday at the Plex against Houston!

Even if you're not riding with us, feel free to meet us for a drink and a bite before the game.
But remember, the Soccerplex is also hosting MSI's Cherry Blossom Classic next weekend, so the parking lots will be crowded. Get there early!
