Get Pumped for Philly Fireworks
We'll see how friendly this "friendly rivalry" is tomorrow, when the United take on the Philadelphia Union for their first matchup of the season!
United and the Union each head into the weekend with a 1-3-2 record. However, D.C. is coming off a bye week, and prior to that, a thrilling victory over Columbus.
Philly, in contrast, lost to FC Dallas last weekend, and currently has the least productive offense in the league.
Despite this, Union coach Jim Curtin does not appear interested in changing his starting attacking lineup just yet. Can United make that work to their advantage? We'll see!
Hopes that Junior Moreno would be back on the pitch for the Black-and-Red were dashed this week with the news that he had yet again suffered a hamstring injury.
Russell Canouse is also still out, recovering from a nagging knee issue. Look for youngster Chris Durkin to help keep the midfield engine running.
One question ahead of tomorrow's match is who D.C. coach Ben Olsen will start in goal. David Ousted's foot injury allowed Steve Clark to show his stuff in Annapolis, and the birthday boy stood on his head to earn the shutout. Will the performance be enough to get him the start now that Ousted is healthy? Olsen isn't saying...

Sharing is Caring
As Audi Field draws ever-nearer to its mid-July opening, its appeal has drawn the attention of more than just United fans. The Washington Spirit, our local National Women's Soccer League team, has signed a deal to play a game this summer at Audi!
This is big news for the Spirit and for the NWSL as a whole. Those of us who are already Spirit supporters are excited to introduce this fantastic team to our fellow United supporters.
With USWNT stars Mallory Pugh, Ashley Hatch, Taylor Smith, Rose Lavelle, and #1 draft pick Andi Sullivan, not to mention Nigerian talent Francisca Ordega and Argentinian star Estefania Banini, the Spirit packs quite a punch!
Their opponents (Portland Thorns) are no slouches either, with a lineup featuring USWNT stars Emily Sonnett, Tobin Heath, and famed Canadian striker Christine Sinclair. You don't want to miss this one.

Volunteers are the backbone of this awesome organization, and are even more important for the Jamboree, so please join us!
You can referee games, help with set up and take down, staff an activity booth (soccer games, face painting, etc.), volunteer your photo/videography skills, help serve lunch to the kids and to fellow volunteers, and more!
Lunch, water (BYO bottle), and a free T-shirt will be provided. Volunteers must register online - when you do so, please be sure to note "Screaming Eagles" as your organization. You can volunteer for a morning or afternoon shift, or if you so choose, spend all day at the Jamboree!
As a non-profit and a partner of DC SCORES, this event is tremendously important to us. It's also valuable to the local youth and their families who will attend. Spend a few hours having fun on a Saturday, and make a difference in their lives!
