Hamid Heads Home?
Screaming Eagles News & Events
Good news! Our photographers have been hard at work uploading their many fantastic shots to our new SmugMug gallery, so take a look! In addition to photos from all of our Audi Field matches, we now have images from last season available for you to enjoy.
United supporters of all stripes headed over to Across the Pond last Saturday for our MTL v DC viewing party, and we had a blast. We'll be at ATP for all remaining away games this season, starting an hour before kickoff.
This weekend we'll be back at the ECC on Sunday from 4-7 pm for DC v ORL. We'll also be tailgating prior to next Wednesday's match against the Timbers. Plenty of beer, good company, the occasional raptor, and beautiful river views - what's not to like? Join us!
Tailgates are held held at the Earth Conservation Corps' Matthew Henson Center at 2000 Half Street SW (two blocks from Audi Field). Entrance is free. Beverages are free for current SE members. One-day memberships can be purchased online (bring an electronic or paper proof of purchase) or at the door.
Tailgating Tip: A fashionably late arrival is not your best bet - the beer line closes at 6:45 pm to give our volunteers time to get to Audi Field before kickoff!
Sunday 8/12: 4 pm - 7 pm
Wednesday 8/15: 5:30 pm - 7 pm

DC SCORES and More
DC SCORES students and Black-and-Red players Chris Durkin & Chris Odoi-Atsem were in attendance Monday at the opening of a new D.C. area mini-pitch!
The Petworth Recreation Center project was funded by D.C. United, the U.S. Soccer Foundation, the D.C. Department of Parks and Recreation, and Musco Lighting. The mini-field is part of the USSF "It's Everyone's Game" initiative, dedicated to building 1,000 such pitches nationwide by 2026.
We're excited to see the next group of DC SCORES students take their spots in the Supporters' Academy (Section 138) this weekend. Be sure to say hello!

In the News
The rumors are flying! Let's recap:
Multiple sources report that D.C. United has acquired defender Vytautas "Vytas" Andriuskevicius from the Portland Timbers. According to the supposed terms, United will cover half of Vytas's $250K base salary, and has also offered up $50K of TAM for the left back.
The Washington Post reports that the Black and Red are looking to reacquire goalkeeper Bill Hamid, who signed with Danish club Midtjylland last year after seven seasons starting in D.C. Hamid (whose sister Jasmine plays for the Washington Spirit Developmental Academy) has not seen much time on the field in Denmark this season. It time to dust off the "He's big, he's green" chant? Time will tell! UPDATE: Bill's back!

Good news: Washington Spirit and USWNT star Mallory Pugh was back on the field last weekend for the Spirit's battle with Seattle! We can't wait to see "PughPugh" and fellow national team players Rose Lavelle, Andi Sullivan, Taylor Smith and Ashley Hatch at Audi Field on August 25th. If you haven't bought your tickets yet for this featured NWSL match, get to it!

On the Field
A slow start in Montreal last weekend once again led to D.C. going down a goal early in the match, but after about ten minutes of shaky play, the Black-and-Red found their footing.
A stellar performance from Luciano Acosta earned him a spot on the MLS Team of the Week, and his team-leading ninth assist gave Yamil Asad the tying goal in the 70th minute. We'll take it!
