What a night! Many thanks to all those who attended Saturday night's Toys and Toddies event.
The evening was a roaring success; we collected over 100 toys for the young poet-athletes of DC SCORES and over $1500 to donate to DC SCORES itself. Well done, folks!
The night was made merrier by the attendance of not one, but two members of the Black-and Red: beloved hometown goalkeeper Bill Hamid, and young favorite Chris Odoi-Atsem.
The duo graciously posed for photos, autographed memorabilia, and chatted with attendees while watching the MLS Cup Final. Excited chants of "Bill! Hamid! Bill, Bill Hamid!" continued long after both athletes had departed for the evening. We are very grateful for their time.
We would also like to extend special thanks to Gerry and his staff at Across the Pond for being such gracious hosts!
Enjoy more photos of the event here, and please let us know if you have photos of your own to contribute.
We weren't finished with just collecting the toys! Screaming Eagles members and volunteers from United and DC SCORES took over a suite at Audi Field Tuesday night to wrap the toys.

Then...yesterday was the big day! Members of the D.C. United Youth Academy joined Talon and young DC SCORES poet-athletes at Smothers Elementary for a holiday party and an afternoon of arts and crafts. Check out the pics!
This was the second year in a row of the Youth Academy pitching in, and we were thrilled to see them in attendance. Good work, gents!
Following their crafting session, the young students each received and unwrapped one of the gifts collected at Toys and Toddies. They were thrilled, and had a special message for our club.
How's that for teamwork?
Look Out: Here Comes the Spider-Man!
Next up on the calendar? Movie Night! Saturday is going to be a rainy day anyway, so how better to spend it than cozy, warm and dry in a theater?
Please join us as we continue the Black and Red tradition of taking over a theater for a holiday movie! Get caught in the web-slinging fun as we screen the brand new animated flick "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse". No 3D glasses required.
All are Welcome to join the fun! Tickets are just $15, and proceeds will be donated to DC SCORES. Grab yours today!

United striker Darren Mattocks, out of contract and unprotected ahead of the MLS Expansion Draft, was selected by FC Cincinnati as their number one draft pick! We thank him for his service to United, but Darren will feel right at home in Ohio, having played his college ball at the University of Akron.
