Both Baribo and Rowles returned to the lineup after injuries, and the difference was apparent.
The first half was lively. Johnson made a great save in the 11th minute, and Nono hit the crossbar in the 16th minute. In the 24th mninute, Peglow put a through-ball in to Munteanu on the left side of the box. Munteanu hit an inch-perfect cross past the keeper to Baribo who slotted home for his first goal. In the 37th minute, Nono had a beautiful cross to Baribo, who slotted it past the keeper into the left corner for his second goal. It was 2-0 at the half.
DC lost the ball in their own third in the 49th minute, and paid for it, as Columbus centered to Santiago Rodriguez, who scored from the top of the box to cut DC's lead to 2-1. Rowles almost scored a minute later but hit the crossbar with a header. The rest of the game was nervy, as Columbus dominated possession (72% for the game) and shots (16-10), but DC held on for the win.
