St. Louis played a press and dominated possession but DC's defense held in the first half. However, in the 50th minute, the left side was left wide open and St. Louis's Jeong Sang-Bin cross found former DC player Chris Durkin, who scored to the lower left corner.1-0 St. Louis.

DC put multiple shots on target after that, but it looked like a second straight home loss until Peglow put in a rebound off a corner kick in the 90th minute, tying the game at 1-1. Munteanu put the ball in the net in the 6th minute of stoppage time, sending the crowd into a frenzy, but it was overturned due to an offside in the buildup. Still, an exciting finish and very entertaining for the fans.
