DC United managed just 8 shots (only one of which was on target) in falling to Real Salt Lake 2-0 last night (June 14) in Utah.
DC started:
Barraza in goal
Rowles, Bartlett and Tubbs in defense
Schnegg, Enow, Servania and Antley in midfield
Leal, Badji and Pirani at forward
Subs: Fletcher for Leal (62nd), Dodson for Tubbs (62nd), Stroud for Pirani (72nd), Murrell for Antley (76th), Kijima for Servania (76th).
Pirani missed the goal on two attempts early in the first half. RSL's Johnny Russell scored on a deflection off Rowles' leg in the 23rd minute, and Zavier Gozo beat an offside trap in the 77th minute. A third goal by Ariath Pol in the 86th minute was ruled offside. DC seemed totally toothless by the end of the game, perhaps due to altitude.
There is no game this coming week, as the Club World Cup and the Gold Cup dominate the US soccer landscape for a bit. DC's next game will be against Nashville at 730pm on June 28 at Audi Field.
