The Wooden Spoon Is Back

DC United ended their season with a 1-1 draw in Atlanta last night (October 18). The draw left DC in last place in all of MLS for 2025, which means that the "Wooden Spoon"* will return to DC. Not unexpected, but still sad.
DC's starting lineup and substitutions:
Forward: Stroud (Peglow, 55th) Benteke Clark(Pirani, 55th)
Midfield: Hopkins (Enow, 80th) Peltola Servania
Defense: Schnegg Rowles McNaughton Antley (Murrell, 68th)
Goal: Farr
Not much to say about the game. Atlanta had a horrible year too, and if DC had won instead of drawn, Atlanta would have "won" the Spoon. Atlanta's MIguel Almiron scored in the 3rd minute from just outside the box, and Pirani nutmegged his defender to beat Brad Guzan (playing his last game at age 41) in the 66th minute.
So now the offseason is here, and we'll have a few months to watch the rest of MLS in the playoffs, and see what sort of personnel moves are made between now and January/February. Stay tuned.
The Wooden Spoon * is given by the Independent Supporters Council to the MLS team that finishes last in the league each year.
